CSC Annouces $147 Milion IT Outsourcing Contract Extension With BHS

Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) today announced that major UK retailer Bhs has extended its information technology (IT) outsourcing contract with CSC for seven additional years. CSC first began supporting Bhs in 1993 when the company was part of the Storehouse Group. CSC estimates the value of the extension to be approximately $147 million (80 million pounds sterling).

Under the new agreement, CSC will continue to support more than 850 desktops and 68 servers, as well as infrastructure servers across 165 stores and 2,500 EPOS terminals. Approximately 100 CSC employees provide end-to-end services for key applications and infrastructure under the agreement.

"Bhs recognizes that outsourcing IT services to best-practice suppliers can deliver significant business benefits," said Ian Allkins, commercial director of Bhs. "After a thorough review of our IT operations and requirements we were satisfied that extending our existing long term relationship with CSC would provide the best solution for Bhs, and we look forward to continuing to work successfully together."

"Bhs was CSC’s first large IT outsourcing contract in the UK, and we are very pleased to be extending this important relationship," said CSC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Van B. Honeycutt. "This agreement will showcase CSC’s ability to leverage our global strengths and IT services experience to deliver business and operational results for Bhs."
