Thought Leadership in Action

CSC’s strong history of thought leadership is evidenced in a wide collection of publications that draw on the best practices and results we have learned, refined and applied over the years.

Business Thought Leadership: Our Periodicals
CSC World is our flagship publication, written to make information technology meaningful—to describe what it means, not what it is—and to bridge the gap between technologists and business people. Each issue examines one or more success stories, providing examples of CSC putting its experience to work to create results for clients. CSC World Online incorporates stories from the print publications as well as Web exclusives.

Smart Business: Strategic Insight from CSC is a client magazine produced by CSC in the United Kingdom. It is geared toward our clients’ board-level executives and taps into the issues, changes, technology, challenges and people that are of direct and practical concern to them.

Premium is a client magazine produced by CSC in Southern and Western Europe (Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain, Portugal), and is available in English, French, Spanish and Italian. This publication is issued to provide decision makers, the press and analysts with the latest business and technology thought leadership from CSC. Features cover a wide range of subjects, from specific business topics and trends to management theory and practice."

Smart Business (Germany) is a client magazine produced by CSC in Central Europe. It is available in German and addresses clients, prospects, analysts and the press in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Each issue focuses on the latest business and technology trends and illustrates on the basis of selected case studies how these trends can be put into practice.

Technology Thought Leadership: The LEF
CSC's Leading Edge Forum (LEF), a worldwide consortium of technologists and industry experts, provides our clients with a point of view on technology—where it is today and where it is headed. The following recent studies were produced by the LEF:

Digital Trust examines IT security as a technology strategy that plays both offense and defense, recognizing enhanced business value and cost savings, while minimizing information risk exposure.

The Connected World: Redefining the Geography of Business and How We Work and Play report examines eight connectedness trends to help organizations understand what technology is and what it will do, and help them address current business challenges and create technology roadmaps.

The Extreme Data: Rethinking the "I" in IT report explores four dimensions of extreme data—data everywhere, time and place, social connections and meaning—and urges organizations to leverage the opportunities presented by extreme data.

The Open Source: Open for Business (7.8 MB) report examines the 10 trends defining the open source movement, the legal and business issues and recommendations for getting started on an open source journey.

The Architecture rEvolution: Exploring the Network Effect on Infrastructure, Applications and Business Process (2003) (7.4 MB) explores the three levels of the Architecture rEvolution, examining each level's array of drivers, strategies, technologies and standards.

Global IS Leadership: The Critical Issues Survey
For 15 years, CSC has surveyed global IS executives about the convergence of IT and business strategy and its impact on the IS organization. No other survey project in the IT industry has such a rich legacy of content, insight and practical advice. The most recent survey showed that the top concern of most executives was how to get the most value out of the technology infrastructure. Explore their concerns in CSC's 14th Annual Critical Issues of Information Systems Management Survey (5.8MB).
