CMMI
The Software Engineering Institute’s (SEI’s) Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) is a framework that can be used as a process improvement approach. It integrates several models into one framework. This reduces the cost, redundancy and complexity of using multiple CMMIs. It is recognized worldwide as a structure to indicate mature system development, services and acquisition organizations.
CSC and CMMI
Our commitment to monitoring and measuring our progress has allowed CSC to be a major player in helping define the CMMI. CSC has been a leader not just in adopting the CMMI, but in partnering closely with the SEI, government and industry leaders to shape the model.
As an SEI Partner, CSC is authorized by the SEI to provide CMMI Introductory training and Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI) services internally to CSC accounts and externally to our clients globally. Those services are listed on the SEI Web site Partner Directory. CSC presently has two certified SCAMPI Lead Appraisers, Bob Patterson (MSS and Partner POC), Mel Wahlberg (NPS) and one SCAMPI B&C Lead, Tracey Kinsey (UK). Our certified instructor is Andrew Getz (MSS). Besides these personnel CSC maintains a large team of SEI registered Appraisal Team Members.
CSC applies SEI methods across all business areas and incorporates the SEI models into our proprietary corporate methodology, CSC Catalyst. We also use SEI’s IDEAL (Initiating, Diagnosing, Establishing, Acting and Leveraging) process, which is represented by five phases of improvement.
For CSC’s clients, our continuing leadership in CMMI translates into improved processes and methodologies that permeate the way we conduct business and design and manage programs. The result is higher quality IT products and services, consistently delivered on time and within budget.
