Lean/Six Sigma at CSC

Lean/Six Sigma is a quality and process improvement methodology that reduces costs and defects while increasing process stability and customer satisfaction.

  • Lean principles originated in manufacturing but are now being adopted in all areas of business. The Lean methodology focuses on speed by identifying and eliminating wasteful cycles, steps, processes, tools and materials. Lean is simple and can be learned quickly and applied to any process/service/product takes too long to execute. Three-day Lean Events are being conducted all over CSC with amazing results.
  • Six Sigma is a highly disciplined methodology that uses rigorous analysis and a data-driven approach to define, measure, analyze, improve and control processes. The goal is to boost performance, drive better solutions and drastically reduce or eliminate defects and problems to exceed client requirements. If financially feasible and/or required, processes can achieve near-perfect results — 3.4 defects per million, or 99.999 percent perfect in pursuit of “Six Sigma.”

To help clients integrate and implement both methodologies, CSC has developed a robust Lean/Six Sigma program, which trains, develops and deploys certified experts across the globe. Our eight Master Black Belts, over 150 Black Belts and 2,500 Green Belts participate in new initiatives every day. We have helped reduce our customer and internal costs by over a financially validated $225 million in the past six years alone.

Rob Bryant, CSC’s vice president of Quality and Six Sigma, says, "We’re offering Lean/Six Sigma training in every division and region within CSC."
